Amlima Football Club

Amlima FC. Is a Nonprofit Corporation registered with the state of New York and the Department of Treasury IRS with tax exempt certification since October 20, 2023. We are a semi-professional sports organization that is focused on developing a comprehensive program from a developmental perspective that incorporates physical fitness, mentorship, healthy-lifestyle, and community engagement through our soccer programs in underserved communities. Our aim is to reach over a hundred youth who may lack the financial means to utilize this opportunity especially at the community level.

We compete in the United Premier Soccer League's (UPSL) Western New York Premier Division. Talented players from a variety of countries and backgrounds made up Amlima F.C., demonstrating the ability of soccer to unite communities. We also embraced the principles of ethnic diversity, community involvement, and sportsmanship.

The Amlima over the years has been engaged in the development of a youth soccer program working to provide high-quality soccer training for youth in Syracuse NY.

We work with middle school aged boys and girls. Through our program, participants learn to develop a healthy lifestyle, sustain in-school retention, promote academic enhancement, and good citizenship. This initiative also helps create safe space for character development opportunities to about 100 boys and girls in the City of Syracuse, specifically targeting New Americans.

Meet the Staff

  • Thomas Nimineh - President

    Mr. Nimineh hold a Masters in Community and Economic Development from the State University New York, Empire State College,

    New York, USA. As president of Amlima Football Club, Mr. Nimineh is dedicated to leading the club towards excellence in the beautiful

    game of soccer and community development. Mr. Nimineh has had more than 5 years’ experience in organizational leadership, strategic

    planning. Mr. Nimineh has successfully implemented initiatives that promote teamwork, sportsmanship and is commitment to building

    a strong soccer program. In the last 9 years, he served as: President of the Liberian Community of Syracuse INC.

    Vice President of Upstate United FC, a founding member & Coach of Eastwood Fire Football Club, Board of Directors of the Liberian

    Community of Syracuse Inc., Asst. Soccer Coach: Bishop Grimes: Boys varsity and Frazer Middle school soccer Teams.

    Mr. Nimineh is committed to giving communities the opportunity that will enhance the capacity of young athletes and to building a

    stronger relationship that would increase self-awareness and embrace lifelong learning. At Amlima, he will endeavour to help athletes

    build resilience and nuture a meaningful relationship that will invest in building and maintaining a stronger and supportive connection

    with the larger society

  • Romeo Kpolo - GENERAL MANAGER

    Romeo became the General Manager of Amlima F.C. on November 30, 2023, and during

    the season, he had a big influence on hiring decisions for the entire Club as well as long-

    term planning. He oversaw player personnel and analytics for the team as well.

    In his tenure, Amlima F.C. made its UPSL debut in 2023 and advanced to the playoffs for the

    first time. Romeo emphasizes the importance of elevating player performance throughout

    the Amlima organization

    A native of Tehiri, Ivory Coast, Romeo moved to Syracuse, New York April 2012. He

    completed his high school education at Nottingham High School, followed by an Associate

    degree in Engineering Science at Onondaga Community College, and a Bachelor of

    Science degree in Civil Engineering at Syracuse University. He is fluent in French and English

    Romeo was awarded the New York State Senate Certificate in 2023 for his outstanding

    community service, and he was recognized as a College Alumnus Star in 2023 with Onpoint

    for College. Romeo was the 2013 CNYCL All League and Nottingham High School's 4x200

    Meter Relay New York State Champions. He was the captain for Onondaga Community

    College Men’s Soccer team and was Men's Soccer All-Conference Team in 2014. He was

    honored with the Syracuse University's Engineering Ambassador Performance Award in

    2019. This award honors those in the Syracuse City School District who promote

    engineering and literacy. He was awarded the Samuel P. Clement Award for Best Design in

    the same year. In 2013 Romeo was the student Representative to the OCCA Board at

    Onondaga Community College.
